All Kids Play

A program offered to the children of San Pedro, who have the desire to play Little League baseball, but for one reason or another they can’t, due to registration fees.

In the early 1970’s, San Pedro had over 10 facilities for our kids to play baseball; today we have less than 5.  In the 1970’s, over 2500 kids played on a baseball team, stayed out of the trouble from the streets, and learned what it is like to be a disciplined member of an organized team. The estimated number of San Pedro kids playing organized baseball in 2007 has dropped to under 1300 participants.  Eastview Little League decided to come up with a way to help parents who need help financially, so that all kids can play, and Eastview is calling it, “All Kids Play”.  All Kids Play is a fund people can donate to, that will help make it affordable for families from all economic backgrounds to let their kids play Little League Baseball.

46 years ago, Eastview Little League became an organization in San Pedro that opened its doors to all kids, regardless of their family’s economic background.   To this day, Eastview is proud to say that we have always upheld and maintained the Little League pledge to never to turn a child away, regardless of the reason, including financial, with no questions asked.

Eastview’s “All Kids Play Fund”, will help offset the league’s annual registration fee of $130.00, which helps provide each child with a full baseball uniform, team equipment, individual and team photos, and field maintenance.  This new fund is now a place where business and families can donate money that will specifically go to help those children’s families who need help, thus giving all kids a chance to play ball.  Eastview will earmark all donations to All Kids Play for the sole purpose of assisting children from families with household incomes less than $54,000.  According to the US Census Bureau, the census tract in which Knoll Hill exists (Our new temporary home for the 2008-2010 seasons) has an estimated 2007 Median Family Income of $32,069.
